This past weekend, I think, because my days are all mixed up between drugs and not going anywhere π
I started:
“Ginger”
By Stacy Nash
She is from Stacy’s Animal Crackers series and an exclusive class for the 2025 Jingle Bell Ball.
I kept seeing her as one of my “large size” weighted stand ups.
So I found some 20 ct. Red Pear linen and I’m stitching her 1 over 2 using perle 5 cottons.
Today, I slipped the last stitches in Ginger:
She is about 9.5 inches tall. She will make a darling stand up. I want to stitch her small too, and I will another day…. But today I am feeling “Thanksgiving-ish” so I pulled something else out from my stash.
Sadly I wanted to start WTNT’s Thankful, Grateful, Blessed…I have it kitted, all ready to go….BUT I can’t find it and I don’t walk well yet so I decided to just grab something else kitted and ready to go. I’ll share an update of what my choice was another day when I share a progress update.
I’ve decided I’m going to use this blog like I used to use social media, to share my stitching, my crafts, my life, my family photos and the like. There are still plenty of lovely people still doing blogging and I find it a more genuine, kind, friendly platform than social media.
Here’s a couple of photos of my Cora:
I know she’s ours, but ain’t she cute?! Granny loves her so!
Hip Recovery day 7:
One week ago today, I wasn’t feeling so swell. Today, I am happy it’s not day 1 π
Actually, I’m doing really well. Each day I think I improve, get stronger.
I’m not using my pain pills through the day anymore. Only at night to help me sleep. Sleeping helps healing, so as long as I’ve got them, I’m using them to help me sleep.
Keith returns to work tomorrow, so I’ll be alone all day. He’s packing me a cooler of drinks and food so I stay in my recovery room. I’m terrified of falling.
Of course Austin will be at his house 5 doors down, if I need him. It’s his week with Cora.
Keith, Katie and Austin are rotating caring for Cora for the next 3 months while I recuperate.
See ya next time ❤️

Ginger is adorable. Her little skates are just too cute. BUT ... not as cute as Cora. She looks like such a happy girlie!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Blogging isn't as instant so it doesn't promote instant posting which sometimes, well --- it isn't so kind. I'm still on the socials, but geez . . . sometimes it isn't very nice.
So happy to have found your blog! Praying for you for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteCora is such a cutie! I’m so happy that you are blogging again and that I found you. Hopefully you are feeling much better today.
ReplyDeleteGinger is a beauty, Vonna. Well done on getting her all stitched up! I can't wait to see what you are stitching that is Thanksgiving-ish. I am glad to hear your recovery is moving forward. Miss Cora is so adorable. If I lived nearer, I would be there to keep you company. Since I can't be there in person, I will be here thinking of you and praying.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Ginger. She is so cute and look forward to seeing her as a standup. I sure am glad you are feeling better. I love seeing Miss Cora again. I have missed her and your posts. Like Robin, if I lived closer, I would love to keep you company and sit and stitch.
ReplyDeleteGood to read about your recovery, Vonna, and see that you've been stitching again. Ginger is cute, but not as cute as your Cora--ha ha! My sister-in-law had her hip replaced about three weeks ago and said the first couple of weeks were horrid, but she is getting much better now. I'm so glad you have your family nearby to help you out and that care for Cora is being managed so well :) Take care now!
ReplyDeleteLove Ginger on that fabric. Glad you are feeling stronger each day. Cora is a real cutie. They grow up so fast. Take care and can’t wait to see what you stitch next.
DeleteLook at CORA! Wow has she grown and just adorable!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, Vonna ☺️
I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm very glad you're still online in some form. You're amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm oh so happy your blogging again. I kind of felt lost without you.
ReplyDeleteYour making progress with things if you can reserve pain meds for night time. Sweet Cora is a delight! Love your stitching. May your blessings be many as we turn our hearts towards Thanksgiving .
Ginger will be an amazing standup❣️However, as cute as Ginger is Cora is cuter and could belong to no other family. Just look at that beautiful face. She looks like she has a great personality as wellπ I’m glad you are doing better and stronger everyday. I keep you in pray each day. Do your exercises, eat nourishing food, and get plenty of rest. Before Easter you will be chasing after little Coraππ½♀️
ReplyDeleteGinger is beautiful, and your granddaughter is a doll!! Thinking of you and praying healing is going well ❤️
ReplyDeleteYou’re amazing , stitching already! I hope it gets easier to get around as the days go by. It brings a smile to see Cora’s sweet smile.
ReplyDeleteLove your Ginger in the large size. You are always an inspiration, Ginger is just one example of that. I’m so glad I found your blog and look forward to seeing your stitching! Wishing you a speedy recovery and praying that you feel better very soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are starting to feel better. I've prayed for quick healing for you. Your Ginger is precious. Thank you so much for sharing. I do miss your tutorials as you are a master finiser and I am not. I'd pay for access to those tutorials. lol. I'm working on Annie Beez pears and wish i had watched your pear tutorial. Anyway. I'm happy to hear you are healing and will continue to pray that you are up and running very soon!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see your blogging again! Love your idea for a large stand up! Can't wait to see your finish.. I'm so glad I can reach you to share that you are an amazing inspiration and how grateful I am for your generosity sharing your talent and ideas! I remembered your posts about making a christening gown and the baby's first Christmas ornament. I thought that is a cherished way to celebrate the new baby. I am so excited we are expecting our first grandbaby next year! I plan to do the same by making an ornament for baby's first Christmas. I am also making a slip for a christening gown my mother-in-law made 30 years. My five sons were christened in it so I am embroidering their names and dates. Praying for your speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that your recovery is going well. Your Ginger is adorable.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Vonna! Cora is just precious! Glad you’re improving with recovery, love seeing what you’re stitching.
ReplyDeleteIt was a joy to find you blogging again when you disappeared off my social media feeds. I have to agree that social media in general is not a pleasant place and the level of nastiness is intolerable. I wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing more of your amazing work x
